With over 42 years of performing and acting, Toyah Wilcox is a powerhouse talent. She’s released thirteen Top 40 singles, recorded 25 albums, starred in 40 stage plays and appeared in 20 films.
Inspired by her acting career, Toyah formed her band Toyah in 1979 and quickly secured a record deal, releasing their debut single, Victims of the Riddle, the same year. Her hits like It’s a Mystery, Thunder in the Mountains, and I Want to Be Free earned her nominations for Best British Breakthrough Act and Best Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards in 1982, 1983, and 1984. She later pursued a solo career while continuing her stage performances.
In the 1990s, Toyah transitioned into presenting, reporting on shows like Watchdog and This Morning. She also appeared on various reality shows, including I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2003 and winning a celebrity version of Great British Sewing Bee in 2023.
Her extensive career in the arts has led her to tour around the UK, with spots at The Isle of Wight Festival and the iconic Glastonbury Festival in 2023 and 2024. So, she’s no stranger to the spotlight and we can’t wait to see her shine on Strictly.
