Meet Jamie Borthwick

He's about to have his doof doof moment on the dance floor!

Jamie Borthwick Waltzing straight in from Walford to Strictly 2024!

Best known for playing Jay Brown (Mitchell) on EastEnders since 2006, Jamie is one of the show’s longest-serving stars. His time on the iconic soap has earned him numerous awards, including a British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Young Actor in 2008; and more recently, Best Actor at the 2023 Inside Soap Awards, following his on-screen wife Lola’s brain tumour storyline.

When he’s not causing drama on-screen, Jamie’s been busy doing good off-screen. He ran the London Marathon in 2019 for Dementia Revolution in honour of Dame Barbara Windsor and tackled the race in 2024, this time alongside co-star Emma Barton, for prostate cancer without a single day of training! That marathon became a storyline worked into an actual episode of EastEnders.

Despite his early training at Sylvia Young Theatre School, Jamie admits he should’ve paid more attention to the dance classes (they’d come in handy now). But he's not a total newbie, he dazzled on the Strictly 2023 Christmas Special with partner Nancy Xu, scoring a perfect 40 for his Quickstep and winning the show.

Now, he's back for the Strictly 20th anniversary. But that’s not the only milestone. Jamie made his first EastEnders appearance on December 14th, 2006, and guess when the Strictly final is? December 14th, 2024. Could he have his very own ‘doof doof’ moment on the Strictly dance floor?
