Meet Tom Dean

Diving into the world of dancing!

Backstroking into the Ballroom and ready for a new challenge, triple Olympic gold medallist Tom Dean joins the Strictly cast of 2024.

Tom began swimming at the age of eight and won his first gold medal at the 2017 European Junior Championships. The following year at the same Championships, Tom retained his gold medal in the 200m and broke a European Junior record in the process! This led to him being selected for the British European Championships at the age of 18, his first senior competition. Tom continued his success with gold, silver and bronze medal wins at the 2021 European Championships.

In the summer of 2021, Tom competed at his first Olympic games in Tokyo, taking home the gold medal in the 200m freestyle event. He then went on to win a second gold medal in the men’s 4 x 200m freestyle relay. This saw Tom become the first male British swimmer to win two gold Olympic medals at the same games in 113 years.

More recently, Tom competed at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics where he won his third Olympic gold for the men’s 4 x 200m freestyle relay.

He’s got gold, silver and bronze medals, but can he add the famous Strictly Glitterball trophy to his collection? We’ll soon find out!
