Overview

An example of the app information pattern on iOS

How it works

The app information screen is split into two sections. The top of the screen provides a series of onwards links to important information about your app. It must contain the following mandatory links;

Terms of use

This links you to the 'terms of use' page

Privacy

This links you to the 'your information and privacy' page

Send us your feedback

This will open your default email composer

Â鶹ԼÅÄ account help (if using Â鶹ԼÅÄ account)

This links you to the 'creating and using your account' pages

These are followed by an 'about this app' section. Here you should place the build and version number, and below that the copyright information.

You can include more links on this screen if you wish. It's possible that you may require information on 'what's new' or 'FAQs'. Or you may need to provide a link to a survey. These links should sit above the mandatory links in the hierarchy of the screen.

Rules

  • Your app must always provide the mandatory links
  • You should follow the suggested hierarchy above
  • GEL recommended font sizes should be used
  • Brand colour should be used on titles
  • A white or black background can be used
  • The header (about this app) must be written in capitals on iOS

Variations

If you don't have a hidden menu in your app (such as a side drawer menu), and so can't split up settings and app information, you can include your app information at the bottom of the settings screen.

About this app

On iOS this information sits at the bottom of the screen. On Android it sits directly under the last mandatory link. The title 'about this app' is not required on Android.

Pattern in action

This pattern is currently being used by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ+ app, available here:
