Tom Poster is a musician whose skills and passions extend well beyond the conventional role of the concert pianist. In demand internationally as soloist and chamber musician across an unusually extensive repertoire, he has performed more than 40 concertos from Bach to Ligeti with the Aurora Orchestra, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scottish Symphony, China National Symphony, Hallé, Royal Philharmonic and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Two major new concertos have recently been written for Tom: David Knotts’ Laments and Lullabies, commissioned by the Presteigne Festival, and Martin Suckling’s Piano Concerto, commissioned by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. In 2018 Tom makes his debut with the Philharmonia at the Royal Festival Hall.
Tom features regularly on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3 as soloist and chamber musician, and has appeared several times at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms. Tom enjoys established duo partnerships with Alison Balsom, Guy Johnston and Elena Urioste, and is pianist of the Poster-Johnston Trio and the Aronowitz Ensemble (former Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ New Generation Artists). Tom has recorded for Chandos, Decca Classics, EMI and Warner Classics. He studied with Joan Havill at the GSMD, and at King’s College, Cambridge. He is Artistic Director of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, and is also a successful composer.
