Mary grew up with a mum who cooked food for the family on a very tight budget. This included meat, potatoes and vegetables and was purely for fuel. It was when she met her husband and tried his mum’s Sunday roasts that she first became interested in cooking, and wanted to be able to create a roast just like she did.

Mary describes herself as a ‘home cook’ and loves to make pizza in her wood fired oven. She was first inspired by Delia Smith whose cookbook she would always refer to. She loves that Delia shows how you can rescue a disaster in the kitchen and found that it took the fear out of cooking.

Mary and her husband have four children together with two of them still living at home and they also have their first granddaughter, who is 18 months old. When she is not spending time with her family she loves to travel and has recently visited Italy and India.
