A helping hand - filming city monkeys
The crew working on Planet Earth II: Cities were reliant on the generosity and hospitality of local residents
Filming in cities is a totally different ball game to filming in the wild! When you are following animals travelling through the urban environment you often have to walk through people's gardens and sometimes through their houses. The crew working on Planet Earth II: Cities were reliant on the generosity and hospitality of local residents... and this was especially the case while filming monkeys in India!

The team spent a month filming Hanuman langurs in Jodhpur, where they were helped by a huge number of people, and especially by one man, Omji.

One man has dedicated his life to looking after the macaques of Jaipur.
During filming the crew was also astounded by the generosity shown by the inhabitants of Indian cities towards the wildlife they share their streets with. They are incredibly tolerant of animals that, in other cities, may be considered pests, or even considered a threat. On the one month filming trip to capture the lives of Rhesus macaques living in Jaipur the crew met one man that exemplified this sentiment... Vijay.
