No standard is high enough for Madge. A woman who’s certain she knows best and is always insisting that traditional nursing techniques are what keeps the NHS great, Madge is a force to be reckoned with. She may seem strict and get on the wrong side of some of her colleagues (especially when her views seem a little backwards and offensive), but Madge doesn’t care how she comes across to others – as long as the job gets done and patients come first, that’s all that matters. Madge knows exactly how to run her life and isn’t interested in her staff showing emotion or vulnerability – that kind of weakness needs to stay off her ward and behind closed doors. This has meant Madge herself isn’t adept at showing emotion and rarely talks about her personal life. But don’t mistake Madge’s strictness for a lack of kindness. Madge has a clear moral compass – she might be firm, but she’s always fair.
