Pushy, provocative Anoushka was a nurse at the surgery in Series 1, who had simultaneous relationships with both Steve Rawlings (Mark Frost) and Rana Mistry (Akbar Kurtha).

Her subsequent pregnancy was enough to stop her in her tracks, especially as she had no idea who the father was. Rather than suffer the inevitable blame and investigations, she resigned and went off to take care of her baby and start a new life. She is the first original Doctors character to leave.
