Before joining Riverside, Elizabeth worked in some of the poorest areas of Africa and India. As a result, she was often short with patients whom she saw as timewasters.

She had a spiky, abrupt character and couldn't stand office politics. But she was also ambitious and used her dark sense of humour to push herself forward.

Elizabeth had a fling with Nick and became pregnant. She kept the pregnancy secret from him and had an abortion. But when Nick discovered the truth, he was devastated.

Not wanting to cause Nick any more pain, Elizabeth turned down Mac's offer of a partnership and left Letherbridge.
