Martha Argerich (), Barry Douglas (), Hélène Grimaud (), Angela Hewitt (), Stephen Hough (), Steven Osborne (), Maria João Pires () and András Schiff () are among the star-studded array of pianists who perform in 2011 alongside featured pianists Benjamin Grosvenor, Marc-André Hamelin and Lang Lang.

Nigel Kennedy, in a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four televised Prom, becomes the first violinist ever to give a solo Late Night Prom when he plays JS Bach (). He is one of an impressive selection of violinists who perform, including Lisa Batiashvili (), Leonidas Kavakos (), Anne-Sophie Mutter () and Gil Shaham ().

ChloΓ« Hanslip () and Midori () have not given Proms concerts since 2002 and make welcome returns in 2011, alongside featured violinists Christian Tetzlaff (, & ) and Viktoria Mullova ().

Yo-Yo Ma is a featured cellist ( & ), while Lynn Harrell () and Julian Lloyd Webber () return for their first Proms since 1988 and 1980 respectively. Natalie Clein () and Jean-Guihen Queyras () complete the line-up of illustrious cellists.
