Great international visitors
Gustavo Dudamel returns with the SimΓ³n BolΓvar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuala
International orchestras and ensembles come to the Proms from Australia, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. The last alphabetically is Venezuela as Gustavo Dudamel and the SimΓ³n BolΓvar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela make a welcome return following their electrifying Proms debut in 2007, with Mahler's Resurrection Symphony to be shown on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two ().
Other international partnerships include the Philadelphia Orchestra with Charles Dutoit (); Orchestra and Chorus of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, Rome, with Antonio Pappano (); Israel Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta (); Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra with new Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo (); Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg, under Valery Gergiev (); Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich with David Zinman (); and Les Talens Lyriques with Christophe Rousset ().
British conductors Sir Colin Davis and Sir Roger Norrington bring the Gustav Mahler Jungendorchester () and Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra () respectively.
Other highlights include two Proms each from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under Manfred Honeck ( & ) and from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France with Myung-Whun Chung ( & ), plus a Proms debut for Australia's five-piece Spaghetti Western Orchestra ().
