Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms 2010: Bank Holiday family fun

August Bank Holiday boasts two more big family concerts (30 August).

A morning Children's Prom offers a dazzling display of popular orchestra showpieces designed to introduce younger ears to the full splendours of the classical symphony orchestra (with a few surprises and unusual goings-on in the auditorium along the way).

The National Children's Chamber Orchestra and the National Youth Chamber Orchestra join the young professionals of the Aurora Orchestra and conductor Nicholas Collon for this extravaganza for kids.

In the evening the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Concert Orchestra teams up with Keith Lockhart, long-time conductor of the Boston Pops, for English classics and US pizzazz.

He leads a giant audience-participation moment in You Must Remember This – A Cinematic Singalong, and a Proms Family Orchestra and Chorus made up of families from Cornwall and London join the professionals to perform the world premiere of a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ commission from Graham Fitkin.

A Family Music Intro at the Royal College of Music before the concert enhances the whole experience and provides more opportunities for family fun.
