Findings and conclusions of Lonely Planet review
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Trust has published the findings and conclusions of a review into Â鶹ԼÅÄ Worldwide's acquisition and ownership of Lonely Planet.
The Trust approved the sale of Lonely Planet in March 2013 and, given the scale of the financial loss to Â鶹ԼÅÄ Worldwide, it asked the Executive to commission a review of lessons learnt and report back with its findings.
Â鶹ԼÅÄ Vice-Chairman Diane Coyle, said:
"Mistakes were made in the acquisition and handling of Lonely Planet. The important thing now is that the lessons highlighted by this review are implemented, alongside broader improvements to the strategy and oversight of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's commercial operations.Â
"It is important to view the significant financial loss from Lonely Planet against the backdrop of a sustained strong performance from Â鶹ԼÅÄ Worldwide as a whole, which brings significant benefits to licence fee payers."
The findings and conclusions can be found below.
