Ann, now widowed is a mother of five and grandmother of seven and has been sewing for 75 years. A self-confessed "yoga nut", she attends classes twice a week with her daughter Sally and also enjoys cooking, knitting and gardening.

Ann’s mother taught her how to sew from a young age, encouraging her to make clothes for her dolls when she was 6 years old. Ann briefly taught domestic science until she married her husband and became a full time housewife. His job took the family abroad where the only way to get clothes was to make them yourself.

Sewing has always been a part of Ann’s life, "I can’t imagine life without sewing. It’s a part of me". She goes "snoop shopping" when she visits the shops to get ideas for her own creations. One of her grand-daughters has started sewing which Ann is thrilled about. She hopes that by taking part in The Great British Sewing Bee she will inspire the next generation of sewers.
