Ben McAteer
Newry born baritone
Newry born baritone Ben McAteer studied Chemistry at the University of St Andrews before specialising in vocal performance at the the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. A winner of the Opera les Azuriales Ozone prize, the Guildhall School’s English song prize and Northern Ireland Opera’s Inaugural Festival of Voice, McAteer is currently engaged in an intensive course at the National Opera School in London. His operatic roles have included parts in Madama Butterfly, Le Nozze di Figaro, and HMS Pinafore. His concert repertoire incorporates Handel, Beethoven, Fauré and Mozart.
McAteer was singled out as one of our One of our Ones To Watch for 2014.
