Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins, 'The People’s Champion' – the first true genius to ever pick up a snooker cue – revolutionized the game with his fast, attacking, kamikaze play. He made the game cool and more than any other player attracted millions to watch on TV.

But he was a volatile maverick – addicted to booze – and away from the table struggled to cope with his meteoric rise to celebrity. Constantly clashing with authority, his fellow players, his family and his dwindling number of friends, often described as 'like a little boy lost'. By the end, loved and hated in equal measure, he was a truly tragic romantic anti-hero. Ultimately, the Hurricane’s greatest opponent was himself.
