Gabrielle Murphy
Gabrielle Murphy is a singer / songwriter from Treherbert in the Rhondda Valleys.
Gabrielle is the newest name on the Horizons list, with the shortest backstory (so far), a mark of how one of Horizons’ roles is to nurture the brightest, emerging talents from the very beginning.
She played a startling, debut set on the Young Promoters Network stage at last year’s Sŵn Festival, earning herself an immediate invitation to come and play live that night on my Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Wales show (I was in the audience at her Sŵn show and I was blown away by her excellence.)
Gabby started out singing in the house, quickly graduated to local covers bands (when she was only 13) and is now resolutely focused on writing her own songs. She very much reflects the natural eclecticism of her generation, encompassing a multitude of genres (Led Zeppelin to Marvin Gaye stirred with the melodic nouse of Fleetwood Mac and sass of Rihanna).
Her most recent recording, ‘Lockdown’, is a hit single in waiting, one of the rare occasions where modern R&B glories in its soulful roots in Rhythm and Blues.
