Great leaps
Ducklings are designed to be able to walk almost immediately, even if it's more of a toddle than a waddle and their orderly lines following mum to water would surely make even the hardest heart melt. Mallards get just about everywhere, even high up on balconies. Five stories up in the Barbican Centre in London, these ducklings must make a leap of faith to reach the water below. There's only one real criticism that can be made of ducks and that's their behaviour when they grow up and consider making ducklings of their own. Males leave a lot to be desired when they are pursuing a mate, using rough tactics to get their way, especially when several males are interested in the same female. Females can come off quite badly in these scenarios.
