She spent 16 years as president of the aid and development agency Tearfund, and her encounters in many different countries have fired her commitment to justice for the most vulnerable.

She is concerned especially to raise awareness of the many ways in which women around the world are subjected to violence; and she has pointed to the failures of religious communities to address it.Μύ

Elaine Storkey is always eager to relate her faith to the big issues of the day, and whether it’s to a small group of high-powered opinion-formers, or an audience of thousands at a Christian festival, she does so with warmth and passion. She writes on a wide range of issues, and for six years was executive director of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity.

She has held university posts in Oxford, Stirling, London and the United States, as well as with the Open University, but she graduated from Aberystwyth and is now a Fellow of that university.
