Now in its fifth year at Cadogan Hall, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms Chamber Music expands from 8 to 19 concerts in 2009. In addition to the Monday-lunchtime concerts throughout the season (20 July-7 Sept) – many of which pick up on the strands and anniversary celebrations of the season – there's a packed weekend of 12 concerts devoted to celebrating the 10th anniversary of Radio 3's New Generation Artists (29–31 Aug).

Proms Chamber Music concerts

The Cardinall's Musick and Andrew Carwood mark the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Henry VIII in a concert that includes music by Fayrfax, Cornysh, Simpson, Taverner, Tallis, Ludford and King Henry VIII himself (20 July)

mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, in the first of two Proms appearances this season, and Malcolm Martineau explore the sinuous and seductive world of French song, including music by Bizet, Franck, Chabrier, Duparc, Ravel, Debussy, Honegger and Poulenc (27 July)

the Belcea Quartet, one of the UK's leading string quartets – and former Radio 3 New Generation Artists – pair two strikingly original works paying homage to two anniversary composers. Haydn's String Quartet in F sharp minor is followed by Benjamin Britten's tribute to Purcell, String Quartet No. 2, composed in 1945 to mark the 250th anniversary of his death (3 Aug)

Jonathan Morton and the Scottish Ensemble perform a rich variety of string music spanning three centuries. At the programme's heart is a new piece by John Woolrich, Capriccio, framed by classic works by Purcell and Mozart as well as Stravinsky's Concerto of 1946 (10 Aug)

a recital of "Baroque Reflections" devised by accomplished young Welsh pianist Llyr Williams – another former Radio 3 New Generation Artist – which features Brahms's homage to Handel (Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel), as well as music by Mendelssohn's hero, J S Bach, and Mendelssohn himself (17 Aug)

two distinguished concerto soloists, Joshua Bell and Steven Isserlis, join forces with Hungarian pianist Denes Varjon for music of poetry and drama. Includes Schumann's Phantasiestucke, Op. 88, and Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 (24 Aug)

a 12-concert weekend featuring more than 50 stars of Radio 3's New Generation Artists scheme, both past and present (29–31 Aug)

a recital from counter-tenor Iestyn Davies with members of the Academy of Ancient Music and their director, harpsichordist Richard Egarr, centring on the 350th anniversary celebrations for Purcell. The programme includes a sequence of Purcell's solo songs and keyboard pieces and the deeply moving Evening Hymn and an affecting tribute to Purcell by his teacher and predecessor as organist of Westminster Abbey, John Blow (7 Sept).
