Viewers decide who should join the castaways
Alex Harris, 23, a laid back entertainer & shelf stacker from Cornwall
Alex is a lovable loser, describing himself as being "5ft 9, slightly on the chubby side and hit with one or two of the ugly branches on the way down".

He recently split from his girlfriend of seven years and tried his luck on the singles scene describing his pulling technique as "hovering" by girls, tempting them with his killer dance moves and poor chat-up lines such as, "you've got big hair". Surprisingly, he failed miserably and has since reunited with his former flame!

Alex says he feels lost at the moment, he hates his supermarket job but can't decide what he wants to do despite having a new bright idea every week, none of which he follows through.

Despite his relaxed demeanour he admits he's like Jekyll and Hyde when his competitive nature comes out and he just can't stop himself.

He's a sporty guy but is currently banned from playing with his local football team for having a tantrum on the pitch.

- The first and last thing that Alex would like to do if selected for Castaway would be to run naked across the beach ... Baywatch style!
- Alex's luxury items would include trainers and a football and he says he will mostly miss Gary Lineker telling him that everything is going to be alright on a Saturday evening.
- Alex has a degree in Drama and was the first person in his family to get a degree.
- Alex likes girls ... "all shapes and all sizes"
- He can be quite assertive and admits to disliking controlling people – he will deliberately disobey them.
- Very competitive beyond belief, he says: "If I start something I have to win."
- Says most people like him, but admits that some people really hate his guts and confesses that he can be really, really loud and says: "If you don't like me, then you really won't like me."
- Can be heartless and will let others take the rap for something he did.
- Thinks he makes a better follower than leader.

Practical: Has no practical skills ... "but if there are some shelves that need stacking, then I am the man for the job."

Alex on the other castaways: Alex likes Jonathan, saying: "He's the one they all talk about, I like that. His ideas are so different."

Alex also likes Alister saying: "I like the big guy. I'm into Star Wars." Alex doesn't think that Clare will be his cup of tea, he also thinks that he won't get on, with the well-to-do castaways as he's lived on a farm in Cornwall all his life ... "I don't know any really posh people, can't see us getting along too well."

Reason for applying: Alex feels he has no achievements and feels that his path has been laid out for him and sees Castaway as a way of deflecting from that.

Alex also wants Castaway to help him to grow up a bit and hopefully be inspired to gain some direction in his life.
