The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic visits Vienna’s Konzarthaus for the eighth concert of its tour of Europe. The evening is framed by two 19th-centry works: Rossini’s Silken Ladder Overture and Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony, the Scottish. At the heart of the programme are two technically astounding percussion concertos performed by ‘wizard of percussion’ Martin Grubinger. Many of this evening’s audience will know Austrian composer Bruno Hartl as percussionist with Austria’s best loved orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic.
