I think you should do one last commentating race at Silverstone a guest appearance for the final goodbye to Silverstone!!

Very sad, I still have the sound heard from my school a stones throw away from the track from the cars practicing the circuit! Very sad there wont be a Silverstone race!!!

Formula one cars approach the pit lane from different directions depending on whether a track is clockwise or anti-clockwise. So do the teams change the fuel cap from side to side depending on which way they approach the pit lane from? For example the fuel cap needs to be on the right in Australia and on the left in Monaco?

I would appreciate if anyone knows the answer!

You've gone for the soft tyre option in your choice for Team Murray!
Surely it must be Alonso and Hamilton for the Burton/Taylor partnership of Formula 1. They bring out the best (and worst) of each other.
F1 about drama and rivalry and the best there is gunning it together.

Great to see your comments again Murray, however there would be a problem with picking Button and Hamilton for a team, I don't question the driver's skill but it's their style that would make it nigh on impossible to design a car to suit Jenson's smooth faultless style and, Lewis' agressive driving. But apart from that great team.
Wish you could commentate on the British Grand Prix.
Also would like to know who was your favourite driver of all time to spend time with?

Choosing two drivers from the current crop is indeed a mouth-watering prospect. Think you got it pretty much spot on. Despite his tricky personality, I'm not sure I could look beyond Alonso - perhaps the calm and down to earth Vettel would be the ideal man to put up with the Spaniard.

Interesting that you didn't mention a Ferrari driver ... Alonso to Ferrari next season? Surely.

Theracingcat has hit it on the head imo. Jingoism aside, Button and Hamilton require very different cars, especially in terms of rear-end stability. Remember how Kovalainen's pace dropped off last season after McLaren started building the car around Hamilton.

Hamilton and Alonso for me. Set out what support they are and are not entitled to and then let them fight each other hard.

I have a question for your next "your questions answered"...

Do you think the FIA have missed a trick into allowing just 3* of the new teams onto the 2010 grid? In other words, would you like to see a return to pre-qualifying so that ALL of the new teams (who applied to the FIA) would be battling it out for the 6 new grid slots? Teams like ProDrive may have proven to be more competitive than the likes of Campos and Manor.

Re - Gigachapo - question on refueling - well actually formula one cars have two fuel caps for two fuel tanks but in races they only use one the other is a spare. Sorry but your theory of moving the fuel caps around depending on races is completely wrong!

I have a question for you ! do you feel the current F1 season has been somewhat orcastrated either by the FIA or Burnie Eckelstone to make it more interesting for new teams that expressed an interest in entering the 2010 season by this I mean the rule changes for the current season 2009 only seemed to benefit two Teams Brawn & Red bull. (What a fantastic way to permote F1 for new Teams) it seems a little blatant !

From the first interview reported by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ interviewing Burnie Eckelstone back in Australia his comments sugested Brawn would do well and were the ones to watch out for ! this before an engine was turned over ! Brawn have not looked back since...

Personaly I feel there has been some Skullduggery a foot regarding this present Season, never have we seen so many good teams go backwards & with all the technology and advances in F1 have we seen a Team in its first year do so well, and there have been far better equiped Teams in the past that never came close to winning a GP never mind a championship.

Unfortunately F1 might pay a price for what is been played out by Max Mosley or indeed Burnie Eckelstone especially if we see a break away competition or a pull out by a team such as Ferrari.

I would like to hear your views on any of the points I have brought up ..

A question about tyre regulations. If it were possible is it allowed for a team to utilise their worst set of tyres for one lap only if it would benefit them, such as when the softer version is so much slower than the harder version that it's more than a pit-stop's worth of regained time to do so?

Do you think that F1 could realistically have a 'break away' group? and if so what body would run it, FOTA, WMC or any other? - Maybe a governing body that could be made up of past F1 drivers?

If it was my wish list, then:
* the FIA would listen to FOTA and respect their wishes, also
* listen to the fans and respect our wishes.
* The FIA would have new members involved(maybe even you).
* Keep Silverstone and occasionally have it at Donnington(possibly alternative years)

Back to F1 do you think it is time for Max Mosley to step down as FIA President to make way for someone who could rebuild the relationship between FOTA and the FIA and who doesnt have the same political baggage?

My deepest sympathies go to Max Mosley and his family over the lose of his son, but I can't help but wonder if the fight between the FIA and FOTA is something that he should sit out. What do you think Murray?

Something has to be done and soon to fix this ungodly mess as its threatening the sport that so many love, and it appears to me the teams are complaints are justifiable. Nevermind that in order for any budget cap to work the teams have to be on board with it. Regardless of how well regulated it is if the teams are forced to do this against their will there will be hell to pay down the road, otherwise teams will just creative with their books in the same way some teams where creative with the areo restrictions brought in this season. I can see arguments over the double diffuser being a storm in a tea cup in comparison to what will happen over budget disagreements.

The teams have the message that costs must come down, they all appear to be fairly onboard with that, so please work with them not against them!

Lets imagine that you are in Bernie Eclestones position - the owner (effectively) of F1. What would you do about the situation between the FIA and FOTA? I mean in terms of the stand off between the teams and then not wanting the budget cap and their threat to withdraw, with a possible breakaway.

Would you (as Bernie!) want to continue F1 without the likes of Renault (taking Fernando Alonso to a break away racing league), McLaren (Lewis Hamilton), BMW (Robert Kubica) and Ferrari (Philipe Massa and Kimi) knowing that as they leave they will take a lot of support, and therefore revenue away from F1?

PROVIDING SILVERSTONE IS DRY, MASSA FOR THE WIN

Hi Murray will you shed a tear when the curtain comes down on Silverstone.When Bernie started out as a racing driver he was more interested in road signs now i am afraid it's £££££ signs.As a race track Silverstone used to be the fastest curcuit on the calendar then bits were added speeds came down and safety ruled.Hangar Straight,Becketts and Copse still gave you a buzz on race day and with it's history compares favourably with Monza Spa etc.Yet although it sells out every year Bernie is more interested in the infrastructure.This circuit was revered throughout F1 a track that challenged all the great drivers Moss Clark Hill Hunt Mansell etc.Dosen't Bernie realize that watching cars twitch and swerve here is just as important as to where the media stay and where you get your next hotdog obviously not.When Sir Jackie Stewart and Damon Hill got involved it looked like Silverstone was safe I was quite surprised Nigel Mansell never said much considering he had his finest moments at Silverstone winning the World Championship along the way we all remember Mansell Mania.It's a real shame that Abbey Maggots and Woodcote will just be a distant memory in the world of Grand Prix.
