Murray, as always you're spot on! Of the races you presented I would say the Mansell/Piquet battle in '87 will go down in history as the greatest. Mansell really was one of the best we've ever seen.

What was the Schumacher black flag for? A colleague of mine has just suggested it was for supreme arrogance, I think more likely to give the rest of the grid a chance to keep up!!

For being a prat on the warmup lap (overtaking Hill) and then ignoring the stop go penalty. After ignoring the black flag he was given a two race ban (understandably so).


Coulthards win was by far the greatest imo :).

No Hamilton is not a rainmeister, that race was obviously an anomolee, hitting the barrier in Monaco 08, getting Demoted in Belgium 08 are just two errors. Finishing 7th and 12th in Italy and Japan respectively and nearly losing the championship due to a rain hit grand prix in Brazil also supports my case.

This is confirmed by his tendency to spin in the Chinese Grand Prix this Season.

He may be a good driver but he'll never sketch up to Senna and Schumacher in that department.

If I remember rightly "Crazywagons" the black for Schuey was because he decided to overtake Damon Hill on the parade lap. Michael did it to undermine and rattle Damon and did of course slot into second on the grid for the start. But the stewards obviously felt Michael needed a reprimand of sorts, especially with it being the British GP. I'm not sure where this rumour about Murray commentating on the British Grand Prix has come form but I think it would be a nice touch. Though, Anthony Davidson would be my choice as Jonathan Legard's permanent replacement. Sorry Mr Legard, but the chemistry between you and Martin Brundle isn't working for me.

Hamilton's chances will be reduced if it rains, his car will have less downforce. He has said so himself.

As far as your comments he won in Monaco in 08! and also at Spa. He just takes more chances and copes better in the rain.

In Brazil he did well and did enough and this year the car hasn't been a winning car, look at his results compared to his teamate.

He is better than a 'good' driver, look at his points tally since he first jumped in an F1 car.

They should be showing this as a trailer for this years GB grand prix, ahead of this weekend and advertising that you Murry are to be guest commentator.

Monaco - yes he clipped the barrier, then went on to WIN.
Belgium - Raikkonen crashed, he didn't and won the race (sort of). You can't say that because he got penalised (wrongly, in my opinion) and then the FIA declared the appeal "inadmissable" he is therefore bad in the wet.
In Italy he finished 7th, but he started 15th due to going out on a wetter track than all the other cars in Q2, so was always going to be slower.
In Japan he WON in 07 in absolutely dreadful conditions (a result I see you've left out, probably another anomaly in your book) and in 08 THERE WAS NO RAIN, he finished low because he just overdid it at the first corner, then got a drive-through and was spun round by Massa so dropped to the back of the field.
And in Brazil he only made one mistake while there was actually water on the track, when Vettel got through in a bit of confusion involving Kubica unlapping himself
And in China this year, he overtook Raikkonen about 3 times, but he clearly has a car lacking in downforce this season, so rain would actually be unhelpful to him.
But in Malaysia he made good progress through the field during a MONSOON, which shows that things are looking up

Like the Ferrari last year, the McLaren this year plays out badly in the rain. Hamilton couldn't keep it on the island in China due to the lack of rear downforce, so don't expect him to win under any circumstances on Sunday.

Button is the most likely winner but I'd really like to see Barrichello break his duck for this season.

Hamilton had the quickest and best set up car for 2008 that is why he was so successful as Jenson is proving this year, only he is not making as many mistakes as Lewis did due to his experience. Ferrari's set up at Silverstone was bloody awful hence the 360 degree ballet antics for most of the race so Maclaren had no real competition there. Once Lewis has had a few more years experience he will be a good all round driver and will win more championships with a competitive car. Rose tinted glasses or lack of knowledge seem to be in force when comparing Lewis with Schuey and Senna as both of these drivers were quick when they first entered F1 but also accident prone, they both went on to be first class championship winning drivers. Senna drove for most of the then current teams in his career, his winning championship years were never in uncompetetive cars!
Had Lewis not been in a Maclaren in 2007/2008 then as he has shown this year he would have been mid pack, so yes he has talent but is far from the best driver i.e. talent, experience, varied driving style etc.

Off topic I know, but FOTA CONFIRMS BREAKAWAY RACE SERIES FOR 2010!!!!

This may turn out to be nothing more than posturing jockeying for position but if it happens it will be the biggest thing to happen in the history of F1. Can F1 survive without the manufacturer Behemoths of Ferrari, Mclaren, BMW and Toyota?

Murrays got to be in the commentary box for silverstone at least sometime during the week. Its got to be done, he's the living legend.

It seems "Unless I'm very much mistaken" the British G.P. at Silverstone is going to "Go Go Go!" maybe along with three quarters of the teams to a new break away series but hopefully "I am very much mistaken".
Hmmm... still not quite the same though without the LEGEND Murray Walker!
Let's hope the B.B.C. have done everything in their power to "trill" us with a guest appearance from Murray Walker this weekend.

I noticed in the video that they show DC in the Williams and not Hill.
