Live Chris Isaak "borrowed" from Simon's show today...

Chris Evans | 10:07 UK time, Wednesday, 25 January 2012

Listen again to his beautifully laconic interview with the man himself from yesterday via our website or the iPlayer. The man is clearly a chief dude.

Catch up on Chris Isaak with Simon here

Also today - lots of bagpipes and Burns talk this a.m. which I enjoyed immensely. I have never been to a Burns Supper but I will next year. I can't go to one today because I'm attending my big mate John Morgan's fiftieth birthday lunch. I may not even see any of this evening if the usual rules apply and times a few because it's his big one.

Wish me luck, Morgs and his mates have plenty to soak up whatever it is we end up imbibing today, with their six foot sevens plus to my six foot two. Plus they don't have to be up to host a radio show tomorrow morning.

There may be a sneaky exit on the cards circa five - ish.

Peace and Love

Now then Chris, how kindly would you take, to guests sneaking off early from your 50th bash in four years time?

Yes four years time! It will be here before you know it.

    MTF :)

    Good Morning Sir CLP!

When you say sneaking off at 5ish, I assume you mean 5ish as in the a.m tomorrow morning, just in time for a quick bacon and egg bap from the all night cafe over the road and on air at 6.30 a.m?

My tip? Stick to one thing, drinks wise. It's when you mix it that things get messy. And never mix the grape and the grain. Oh no ......

Anyhooooo, have fun, and please, at 6'2" loose the "tiny" comparisons at once!

ps: wasn't Chris Isaak in Silence Of The Lambs, meeting a sticky end in the lift?

  • Comment number 3.

Hi Chris: Hope you all have a great time at John's birthday today! It's sounding like it could be VERY messy!

Hi everyone else - hope all is well. Incredible how quiet the blog is at the moment!

Bids: bless your wee grandson - hope he is ok. I hope his mates at school make a big fuss of him!

Sezza: I know what you mean about the January blues, but Miss January will soon be over ... and we are nudging towards Spring!

I have absolutely nothing to report, what a boring life I have!

    Afternoon,

I've just eaten lunch, so there is nothing else until dinner tonight!

Chris, I bet you've got a few sherbets down you already, have a nice time.

Chrissie, I've nothing to report either, shall we be boring together? xx :)

Best get on, got a "to do" list as long as my arm!

    Afternoon!

Enjoy the birthday celebrations Chris, nowadays after two drinks I'm usually ready to call it a night! I blame it on the boy!!!

Deevs- it was indeed Chris Isaak in the silence of the lambs!

Not much to report here either......think this mizzley weather has dampened everyones spirit a bit....

Bids - hope grandson is ok x

Better go and supervise the plasticine workshop, heres hoping I don't get it mixed up with the bread dough!!!

    Plasticine ...... :-)

  • Comment number 7.

Cheryl, while you are there, can you pick me up a colouring book and crayons? And a Tiny Tears doll? And a minature china tea set? Oh, and a blackboard and chalk! I want to be 7 again - just for one day!

Hi AliB: yes, let's be "boring buddies"! It doesn't mean we are boring of course, it's just as eb (hiya eb) is saying, our spirits might be dampened a wee bit!

    C xx

  • Comment number 8.

Haha Chrissie - I'll see what I can do!

Nic's lad is into Top Trumps - you know, the card game with facts and figures and stats? One set he has is called "Classic Toys". We played with it last Sunday and I think Nic and I had more fun than the little one, reminiscing about orange Space Hoppers, Action Man, Tiny Tears, wendy houses and all manner of stuff that we had to "put up with" before the DS and Wii were invented!

    :-)

  • Comment number 9.

Cheryl, I have never heard of Top Trumps - but checked them out on the river site. Looks like a lot of fun! I know I'm looking back through rose-tinted glasses, but I think the toys I played with were the best!

    Afternoon each,
Back at "base" for the afternoon following an early dart from a "training course" - I use the phrase lightly!
Somebody talking AT us with power point presentation as only tool! Personality by pass too!
    Aaaaaarrrggghhh!
Toys hmmmm roller skates, skipping ropes, playing "2 ball" against wall of the house and yes....my beloved pogo stick! I was an outdoor girl see...!

Laughed at this I saw posted on facewipe yesterday:

Fact of life, After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says W T F !!

    Happy rest of Wednesday everyone!

LOL Jo, that right made me chuckle xx

I'd like to be 7 again, please, no worries, no hassle and playing french skipping and jacks :)

    Afternoon each

Have a good time at the lunch party Chris. Before your Burns Supper next year you might want to check out what's in a haggis before it gets anywhere near your mouth, btw.

Haven't been around to catch up - been feeling a bit wabbit.

I know, 7 is a lovely age (Peeps with 7 year olds at the moment may not agree!) but I truly remeber those days with great affection. Old enough to be able to play "out of the garden" can still remember my mum tying the garden gates with string so we could not escape - but at 7 I was allowed to play in the avenue. Best times were summer evenings, a game of rounders or British Bulldog! Is that allowed btw??

I don't like blog stuck at #13! Haggis and chips for tea!
    Happy Burns eve!

Just popping in to say hello! Got loads to do before our ISO quality audit next week but being a 7 year old again seems so much more appealing!

Chris will be well on his way now and starting to plan his escape, but I think Deevs idea is much more "rock n roll".

Not much to report here either - thats pesky work getting in the way again - but at least I have pesky work - always look on the bright side hey :-)

Right - wheres that audit report....
    Happy humpday everyone

Hi Annie: hope you are ok - any chance that a wee glass of merlot might perk you up? Yes, I know it's only Wednesday, but I'll have one, if you have one! xx

Jo: enjoy your tea! I have never tasted haggis, but I hope you enjoy it!

Debs: lovely to see you - another very busy lady indeed! xx

MsS is coming for a visit tonight, which should be lovely. She has just called me to say that if I am going to the "M" store, can I pick her up a pack of "fizzy laces". Yep, she might be all grown up and living with her boyfriend, but she still likes kids' sweeties!

Have a nice evening, everyone - it's been lovely to have a wee chat here today.

    C xx

  • Comment number 18.

Chrissie, no merlot tonight - have to be up at stupid o'clock in the morning for work.

Deevs, so pleased the business is going well.

Bids, your poor wee grandson - hope his cast is awesome and his schoolfriends are being good to him.

Ali, can I join the 'boring' club?

Joran, I sympathise - have been at some of those 'training courses' and they're rubbish.

Talk of Tiny Tears reminds me of daughter dragging hers around by the hair, then chucking it at the wall. She was never a girly girl.

    well....

So much for nothing happening.......t'other had a truck drive into the side of car on the way to work, luckily it was the back drivers side door that is caved in otherwise he coud have been hurt. And the driver of the truck tried to say it wasn't his fault even though t'other was stationary at lights........... Now I have to remember the password for the insurance website!!

Off to swear gently at the 'puter!

    Evening all

Ebbs, Oh no! Bad news! Hope the puter is co-operating!

Chrissie, Can definately see the end of January now - I'm birthday's all the way from here to February so that'll cheer me up!

Also, I now have lovely stripey hair that doesn't just look like a dead brown thing perched on top of my head so that has made me feel better!

Ali, Funnily enough, I was thinking it would be lovely to meet up sometime. We'll have to get our heads together and sort something out

Annie, I quite like haggis but I don't think it's a good idea to think too much about what's in it! Just be thankful none of the puir wee beastie went to waste!

Can I be 7 again too! I would play french skipping with Ali and do 2 ball with Jo and share my toys nicely - Promise!

Oh bless eb, it never rains but it pours!! At least it was only the car that was hurt, not your other half.

  • Comment number 22.

    Hello Sezza

Do not even think of eating haggis!!!!

    xxxxx

  • Comment number 23.

Annie, I always miss my Scottish friend at this time of year - I went to a couple of Burns Nights at hers and she always served haggis with special sauce - ketchup!

    xxx

  • Comment number 24.

Erm, ok Sezza. 12yr old grandson would get on well with her. Ketchup with everything. xxxx

  • Comment number 25.

We have had haggis this evening (well vegetarian one anyway tastes exactly the same as the real thing) Scotch whisky and I have been blasted with the Flower of Scotland, do you think my husband has become more patriotic because he doesnt live there?! ha ha!

    Morning cherrubs!

Eb, that's just terrible! At least MrEbs is OK. Cars can be repaired, people (sadly) less so. Hope your insurance co take the truck driver to the proverbial cleaners xx

Sezza - new hair makes a load of difference. Can't wait until tomorrow when I once again bid farewell to the grey roots and get some sort of "style" cut back into my barnet.

JG - Woooo - get you!! Company care?

Annie - I had a Tiny Tears doll when I was little. Her name was Tina and I tried t dye her hair ..... ooops! I told mum I wanted a Girls' World ....!

    Loli - what's in a veggie haggis!?!?!

Chrissie - hope you had al ovely evening with MsS and that you managed to get her sweets. I think there's a bit in all of us that refuses point blank to grow up - I'm still partial to a sherbert dibdab and fizzy cola bottles ... :-)

Debs - good to see you, and don't knock being busy. We'll have to have a catch up when you're near here: didn't we mention a bloggers tea somewhere near Telford? (maybe Ironbridge - loads of nice bistroey type places - Crumpy .....!?!?!)

Joran - I remember my 8th birthday: I had a party in the pub that mum and dad ran, and someone bought me a pair of roller skates. To this day, it's a skill I've NEVER mastered. A bit like knitting ....!

Ali - not sure about 7 again, but you're welcome here one weekend: we turn into mad 9 year olds as soon as MiniNic arrives! :-))

I've got a fair bit to do today (all good!) but I will dip in and out to chat - you lot are like my office colleagues now that I'm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Alone all day.

Oooh - and another exciting thing: we're going to see a litter of puppies on Saturday evening! They were born on New Years Day so will be 4 weeks old - perfect timing for bringing home AFTER we get back from our holiday in early March. Can't wait!!!

Right, quick bash at Scrabs then it's work time.

Have pleasant days, one and all.

    Muchos amore.

    Morning All,

It's a bit dreary here today, but I'm not! Although I did have another rubbish nights sleep, my electric toothbrush decided to randomly turn its self on at 4:30, scared the living daylights out of me....lol!

Chrissie, I often have a bag of Percy Pigs when I visit M&S xx

Deevs, I can just as easily be 9, your weekends sound like fun xx

Jakeygirl, Whoop Whoop well done to you xx

Hi to everyone else. Anyone heard from csn, I hope she's OK :( xx

Right this won't get the baby a new bonnet, so to speak!

    Morning all

Grey, miserable and I've got to go to a meeting about a very troublesome person today - still don't feel as miserable as I did at the beginning of the wekk though - weird!

Boy1 gone off to London to see Blood Brothers and do workshop at Pineapple Studios today - sadly, they didn't want me to go along to help!

Deevs, the hair has made me feel better, how superficial does that make me!! I am getting to the stage of bored with this style now so am thinking about getting it all chopped off! Did anyone see Jenny Agguter on TV this week? Her hair looked lovely (and short and not needing 2 hours with straighteners to look how it should!)

Ali, ooo bet that made you jump!

    Right, best look busy!

    Sezza xxx
