An overview of institutions in the UK political system, such as the Houses of Parliament.
Classroom Ideas
This clip can be used to introduce or revise how the political system works within the UK. Encourage students to take notes throughout the clip. Following the clip, the teacher could lead a quick quiz where students are encouraged to answer the following questions: “The UK is a constitutional monarchy - what does this mean? Where is the UK Parliament? What are the two houses in the House of Commons? The leader of the party with the most votes becomes what? Where is the Scottish Parliament? Who leads the Scottish Parliament? How many councils are there in Scotland?” (Students can also be given these questions prior to the clip starting to support them with their note-taking skills.)
