Impact of etiquette on performance

This factor refers to the level of sportsmanship a performer demonstrates.

By being sporting, the performer is following the unwritten rules of the game. They are showing acts of respect towards the opposition through choice, not because they have to.

In the 2019 French Open tennis championships Novak Djokovic showed good etiquette when his opponent, Alexander Zverev's serve was incorrectly called out.

Despite knowing it would count against him, Djokovic examined where the ball hit the clay and told the umpire it was in. As a result Zverev was awarded the point. This was a clear sign of respect for his opponent and the game continued to be played in good spirits.
