Assessment

Performers are assessed in two different activities.

Each of these activities are assessed on a one-off basis.

The performer will agree a specific context in which to complete their one-off performance events with their class teacher. This may take the form of:

  • a tournament
  • a single competition
  • a display

The situation will be vary dependent on the activity and the types of problems the performer may face in that situation.

This will allow the performer to display a range of different performance skills, cognitive skills, and opportunities to work with others both within and across contexts.

Performance in each activity is assessed against the following criteria:

Skill repertoire (8 marks)

  • what range of skills and techniques are performed?

Control and fluency (6) marks)

  • how well are these skills and techniques performed?

Cognitive skills (6 marks)

  • how effective are the use of problem solving and decision making skills in performance?

Tactical understanding (6 marks)

  • how well  are roles and responsibilities performed within team activities? In individual activities, to what extent is a game plan followed whilst considering strengths and weaknesses of the performer and their opponent?

Rules and regulations (2 marks)

  • to what extent are the written and unwritten laws of the activity followed?

Controlling emotions (2 marks)

  • to what extent are a range of emotional factors such as anger, fear and resilience controlled?

Each performance is therefore assessed out of 30 marks giving a total out of 60 for the performance section.

This contributes 50% to the overall award.
