The prophets

Adam

Adam was the first man, who was created by Allah in his own image. Eve, the first woman, was created from one of Adam’s ribs. Both Adam and Eve disobeyed Allah’s orders, so they were banished from the paradise they had been given by Allah. Once Adam had confessed his wrongdoings, he became the first prophet. Adam is seen as the father of the human race. He is also seen as Allah’s and the angels were expected to serve him.

Ibrahim

Ibrahim was brought up in a culture. However, he believed in one only god, which is a belief. He had two sons, named Ishaq (Isaac) and Isma’il (Ishmael). He was also an ancestor of Muhammad. Ibrahim is considered to be one of the greatest prophets.

Abraham [Ibrahim] was truly an example: devoutly obedient to God and true in faith […] he was thankful for the blessings of God who chose him and guided him to a straight path. We gave him blessings in this world, and he is among the righteous in the Hereafter.

Isa

Isa received one of Allah’s most important , called the Injul. His mother was Maryam (Mary) and he performed many miracles. Isa followed the concept of , and because of this many Muslims wish to follow in his footsteps by worshipping Allah as the one God.

Isa is known as Jesus in Christianity, and Christians believe that he is the son of God. Although he is a prophet in Islam, most Muslims do not believe that Isa is the son of God. They also do not believe that he was and . Muslims believe that Isa will return when Allah judges the world.

Musa

Musa (who is also known as Moses in the Bible) is important within Islam because he was given the Al-Kitab (scripture) and Al-Furqan (the ability to know right from wrong). He was the only prophet to speak directly with Allah. Like Isa, Musa performed miracles. One of these was the parting of the seas, which allowed the Israelites to gain their freedom from slavery.

Dawud

Dawud killed Jalut. Because of this, he was made king of the Israelites.

David killed Goliath, and God gave him sovereignty and wisdom and taught him what He pleased.

In Christianity and Judaism, the story of Dawud and Jalut is known as the story of David and Goliath.

Ismail

Ismail was the son of Ibrahim but also a prophet himself. He is seen as the father of the Arabs, or Abul Arab. Ismail helped his father to build the which is considered to be the house of Allah.
