Relationship with Executive Board
The Trust and the Executive Board have different functions, which are set out in the Charter. We set the strategy and oversee the work of the Executive Board. The Executive Board oversees the day-to-day operations of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ.
The Trust
We set the strategy for the Â鶹ԼÅÄ as a whole; we approve the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's high-level budgets and hold the Executive Board to account for its performance. The Trust makes sure the Â鶹ԼÅÄ is run in the public interest and in the interests of licence fee payers.
The Executive Board
The Executive Board manages the Â鶹ԼÅÄ to achieve the strategic goals set by the Trust. The Executive Board directs the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's editorial and creative output; manages the day-to-day operations of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ and runs the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's finances to ensure best value for money. The Executive Board is led by the Director-General, who is chosen by the Trust.
Relationship between the Trust and the Executive Board
The relationship between us and the Executive Board is governed by the Charter and Agreement, and by a number of Protocols. Protocols are documents setting out how the Â鶹ԼÅÄ will put into practical effect the principles set out in the Charter.
