Bill Matthews

I was born in Gourock, and now live near Eaglesham on the south side of Glasgow.

My early career was with Motorola in East Kilbride, and occasionally Austin, Texas, where I started as an engineer and rose to the position of Director of Strategy and Systems for a large electronics component business. I’ve spent recent years in a variety of non-executive positions in the public sector, across a variety of departments, and when I’m not working at the 鶹Լ Trust I’m usually at NHS National Services – which supplies a variety of national services to the NHS in Scotland.

I’ve been a big fan of the 鶹Լ for years, with one of my earliest happy memories being the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show. Nowadays I consume lots of news and current affairs, and visit the 鶹Լ News website several times a day. I’m a regular listener to Radio Scotland and Radio 4, and as a failed musician enjoy much of the 鶹Լ’s musical output (with “Songwriters Circle” being a recent great example of quality output). I watch every episode of “Spooks”, thoroughly enjoyed “Upstairs, Downstairs”, and admit to watching lots of “Strictly Come Dancing”.
