Brendan Johnston

Brendan comes from Derry and has spent most of his life in the North West. He is a retired social worker and prior to his retirement he was Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council. Before that he worked in a variety of posts in health and social care. He is very interested in finding ways to give people a say in the public services they use. He has worked in a number of partnerships around childcare and peace and reconciliation, and since his retirement has become more involved in voluntary work in the area of social care and housing. Brendan has four children and five grandchildren who play a big part in his life. Brendan enjoys a wide range of activities including sailing and hill walking. He is very interested in literature and the performing arts, particularly theatre and drama.
