Joanne is Executive Director of Changing Lives, a national charity based in North East England that provides specialist support to thousands of vulnerable people every month. 

Originally a Solicitor with a commercial law firm in Cardiff, she acted as a consultant to the Public Affairs Company - Welsh Context as the Welsh Assembly Government was in development.

Since moving to the North East in 2002 she has worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau setting up the Independent Complaints Advocacy Service in North East Prisons and went on to lead Voluntary Organisations' Network North East. 

She is currently a director or trustee of a number of voluntary organisations in the region and in the past has acted as a Youth Justice Panel member and as an Appropriate Adult.

Joanne has significant experience of chairing and participating in meetings that involve people from a variety of backgrounds and interest groups. She has exceptionally strong networks both within the third sector, outside of the sector and beyond the North East region.
