Diversity and equality
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ aims to create TV and radio programmes and online content which reflect the diversity of all audiences and which offer something for everyone.
It does so in the context of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Diversity Strategy and its Public Purposes. It also seeks to advance diversity and equality in the management of its operations, for example in its employment policies, and has certain specific obligations under the Equality Act 2010.
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Trust has three main responsibilities in respect of diversity and equality:
• to approve the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Diversity Strategy
• to apply the Public Sector Equality Duty under Schedule 19 of the Equality Act 2010, including through the use of Equality Analyses; and
• to publish its own observations on the Executive’s arrangements for equality in employment
For the Â鶹ԼÅÄ, the Public Sector Equality Duty does not apply “in respect of functions relating to the provision of a content service”. A “content service” is a very broad concept: it covers any content service of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ – TV, radio or online.
