Angie: I find it disgusting that the British girls bobsleigh had their funding pulled and had to crowdfund to get to the Olympics. How on earth are they to improve if they are not backed. Well done all our athletes.

Guy: Don't like lottery money being spent on Olympians? Don't buy a lottery ticket. Simple.

The GB sled of Nicola Minichiello and Jackie Davies finished ninth in 2006 - that's the best result for Britain in the four previous Olympics which has seen women compete.

Can Mica McNeill and Mica Moore beat that? They are eighth with one run to come.

GB have never won a medal in women's bobsleigh.

The medals won by Great Britain are silver in 1924, bronze in 1936, bronze in 1998 and gold in 1964.

Eighth place. If Mica Mcneill can hold that place it will be the best ever result by a British women's team and it would be amazing. They are the future of the sport, absolutely. The more they can do the more they can show this is a sport for women.

Fast forward four years and how much are they going to improve. She's so much less experienced than anyone else that is out there competing, yet she is still performing.

That completes run number three. As we look down the standings Great Britain are in eighth place. Slightly disappointing at the time but there is a decent gap to 10th.

The funding of athletes is a bit of a hot topic, especially in the wake of what could be perceived to be disappointing results.

None other than Eddie the Eagle Edwards has been talking to the Â鶹ԼÅÄ about it this morning.

"We’re spending too much money in our sporting arena and I can agree with people who don't think should we be spending this kind of money, especially on winter sports," said the Eagle.

"Britain aren’t a winter nation. We don’t have much snow. We have a little bit of snow in Scotland, occasionally, but that’s about it. I can agree that while we should be supporting our athletes – especially our winter athletes – we shouldn’t be spending tens of millions of pounds on trying to keep up with the Austrians, with the Swiss, with the Germans, who have got the snow and the facilities and everything else.

"I can agree that while we should be supporting them, it shouldn’t be an open wallet and spending tens of millions of pounds just to try and create, or try and compete, with them when it’s going to be very, very difficult. But good luck to our athletes anyway."

Sarah Murray says she is proud to have coached the combined North and South Korean

women's ice hockey squad at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics but is unsure whether the unified team will ever take the ice again.

Murray had to reshape her squad just weeks before the Games after the two Koreas agreed to field a combined team, taking 12 players from the North and incorporating them into the South's 23-player roster.

"This situation that we were in was out of our control and we did a great job in the situation," Murray said.

"So it is hard to comment on the combined team, because in this situation it worked, but it was out of our control, so I can't really comment on the future at this time."

Mica McNeill and Mica Moore of Great Britain will be eighth going into the final run at 13:00 GMT.

They are three quarters of a second away from the medals though which in bobsleigh terms is an age.

Here come the Jamaicans. Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian had a poor day yesterday, almost falling over at the top of the run. And they stay 18th - well down on expectations.

Quite a contribution for a small club just North of Aberdeen.

While there were a few audible groans from the British fans as the Team GB women slid out of medal contention, there were wild celebrations from the Canadians!

Their two-time Olympic champion pilot Kaillie Humphries has climbed to third.

A defence of her title looks over, but a third successive Olympic medal looks a real possibility and would still represent success for her nation and her fans.

Terry Willett: surely the weight of the crew is a factor?

It is, and that is why there are no mixed teams.

Despite its title, the ‘four-man’ event has been open to women since 2014 and Kaillie Humphries piloted the first all-female quartet at a World Cup in 2016. Hampered by reduced weight, they came last but Humphries hope it will boost the chances of a four-woman event at the 2022 Games

The GB sled is eighth as it stands, which would be a fine finishing result of course.
