    Stuart Broad was quite bullish and put across that it's all under control. He's right to say a lot of the wickets have been batsman error but they frequently are. What he didn't say, was on the last day with a 200-run deficit you do get edgy.

    If there's a wicket you'd want to bat on on day five, this is pretty close to being it.

  5. England are completely capable of batting out today, even without Jack Leach.

    This pitch isn't doing that much, it's sunny, the batsmen have got a point to prove... it might not be pretty, but it is more than doable.

    It's been done before in New Zealand. They have to show the fortitude to break it down into smaller targets and that will be the key. It looks like a big ask at the moment but if you break it down in half an hours, keeping time out the day, it's easier. A lot of it will be about frustrating the New Zealand bowlers.

    England's Stuart Broad: "We knew we were 150 short on a pitch like this but credit to Watling in particular - he wanted to bat a long period of time and he did that. We controlled the scoring rate well but the pitch was difficult to bowl on. There's nothing for us to worry about today - I can only think of one ball getting the batsman out in the Test, and that was when Sam Curran dismissed Kane Williamson."
