Props To The Shops

Andy hangs out at Edgeworld Records

Edgeworld in Brighton

This week props go to Edgeworld Records in Brighton - thanks to Andy Smith (pictured literally hanging out there) for nominating them!

AndyÌýsays:
'All the guys who work in there (including Ash from Charlottefield and Dave from I'm Being Good) are great. Colin, the owner, puts on some of the best gigs in Brighton and has been responsible for introducing me to more amazing music than I could possibly mention.

'I bought my first Mogwai record in there (and my first Lightning Bolt record, and my first Coachwhips record, and my first Hospitals record and and and and...)

Edgeworld say:
'We area tiny, fiercely independant record store specialising in alternative, emergent, interesting music that just happens to be predominantly VINYL!

'Brighton is hardly short of record shops so Edgeworld doesn't begin to compete on a National Chart level, instead it's been said we exist in a John Peel/Grassroots kinda way which is precisely how we like it.

'Always supportive of any DIY action that the industry is unlikely to embrace. This word of mouth ethic hopefully makes us the first port of call for anything vaguely Off the Radar amongst those in the know.

'Edgeworld is just one tiny upstairs room above RELOAD Clothing at 6.Kensington Gardens,North Laines,Brighton,BN1 4AL.Ìý Tel: 01273 628262. We don't have a website (there isn't time! it would be forever out of date).

'We managed to track down an obscure Hip Hop record for Zoe Ball once. l guess our biggest thrill was a visit from John Peel during the RadioÌý1 Live in Brighton week and then hearing some of the records he bought on the Radio.'
