This month we thought we should kick things off withÌý Spillers in Cardiff … not only because its Huw Stephen's local record store..but also because it claims to be the Oldest Record Shop In The World (est.1894)..which we think is as good a place to start as any.
Huw says: 'Spillers is a great independent shop, full of musical treats and oddities.
The staff there will help dig out personal recommendations, and they always stock all the good Welsh music too. It's quite a mythical shop too -Ìý Nicky Wire from the Manics sang about Spillers' red bags. It's the oldest in the world, and I saw Robbie Williams come out of there once, straight into a limousine!'
Spillers have instore gigs. In factÌýEuros Childs plays live in the shop on Monday 13th Feb 2006.
