Ian McDiarmid plays Sir Edward Grey
All but guaranteed filmic immortality, thanks to his role as Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars saga, Ian McDiarmid’s life was on a different path before he settled on his acting career. While being a lover or the stage from a very young age Ian pursued what would have been considered a more conventional career and received a Masters in Psychology from the University of St. Andrews. After completing his academic career he returned to his first love, the stage, and undertook classes at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. In an acting career that has spanned from the late-sixties until the present day he has received equal plaudits for both his acting and directing and led to him becoming the Artistic Director of London's Almeida Theatre.
