Good Evening Europe
Ukrainian Eurovision commentator Timur Myroshnychenko heads across the continent, hearing from those people who share the job of a lifetime.
Did you know that 99.9% of all TV viewers in Iceland are watching Eurovision on the night it's held, or that Sweden’s Eurovision selection show is the country’s biggest television show of the year? Bigger even than the contest itself.
In Good Evening Europe, Ukrainian Eurovision commentator Timur Myroshnychenko heads across the continent, hearing from those people who share the job of a lifetime, following in the footsteps of the likes of legendary names like Sir Terry Wogan.
Timur memorably described his own country’s victory from a bomb shelter in Kyiv, and in this programme he hears from the people who provide the voice of the contest in their homeland to share a unique insight into how different parts of the continent view Eurovision, and how it interacts with their own individual ideas of identity, cultural celebration and more.
Timur learns more about how Eastern European nations see the contest as an opportunity to showcase their country on a global stage, how Sweden treats it as seriously as the football World Cup, and how Ireland will always hark back to their glory days of the 1990s.
