Climate change action: The chef who wants us all to grow 'just one thing'

The pressure to tackle climate change by altering what we eat is huge, and it can be a daunting prospect - but you can start small. Nigerian chef Michael Elégbèdé says we can reconnect with the Earth and learn to become more sustainable by growing more of our food.

Three years ago, he was one of the first chefs to sign up to the Chef's Manifesto - a global movement to make food production more sustainable. He does this by supporting local producers, by encouraging his restaurant diners to eat more local food and fewer food stuffs, such as asparagus and broccoli, that do not grow easily in Nigeria. He gives away a plant to every guest that comes to his restaurant - it could be basil or oregano - to encourage them to think more where there food comes from and to grow more of what they eat.
