Film composer Jennie Muskett explains how she uses musical devices, with reference to a short film extract. She demonstrates the use of repeated bass ostinato and spiky rhythm to create a mood of expectation and generate tension in the opening scene from a film clip. A change of instrumentation to clarinet playing a slow melodic passage conveys a change to a more relaxed passage.
