Soundtrack (pt 2/4) - Composing effectively for film
A film composer shows how music can be composed to enhance and reinforce the moods and sentiment being conveyed in a short section of film footage. He shows us how not to do it - using a bland dance track will work as a basic backing but it is unable to convey any of the complexity or subtlety which might be present in the film. He then presents the film again using his own musical ideas. These sympathetically reflect the changing moods and highlight specific moments.
