Neutralising stomach acid

The human stomach contains many chemicals including hydrochloric acid. This is a strong acid with a pH of 2, which aids digestion. The presenter explains how too much acid can give you indigestion and excess acid can be neutralised with bicarbonate of soda, which is an alkali. The reaction between this and the acid produces a harmless salt and neutral water which ease your indigestion.
