Reactivity of metals - sodium and water

A demonstration of the reaction of sodium with water. The presenter explains how most metals, such as iron, react with the oxygen in the air and any moisture in the form of water. Some metals such as sodium react so vigorously with water vapour that they are stored in oil. We see what happens when a small piece of sodium is dropped into a dish of water. Finally the presenter talks about one of the least reactive metals which is used to make knives and forks.
