Kent home repossessions are amongst the worst in the South East

Shelter, a housing charity, released figures today showing that homeowners in Medway, Gravesham and Dartford are more likely to face repossession claims than almost anywhere in the South East, with the rate of claims in Medway twice that of the average for the region.

Nicola Hughes from Shelter explains how serious the problem is and what measures can be taken to avoid repossessions (07.08).

Mark Reckless, Conservative MP for Rochester and Strood, shares his concerns at the problem in his constituency (08.07).

Also on the programme, the Mayor of London's idea, for an international airport in the Thames Estuary - dubbed by many as Boris Island - was at the centre of a public debate on the future provision of aviation in the South East on Wednesday night.

And street markets across Kent are enjoying a revival. Dartford hosts a new Sunday market in July. Margate is planning a new market in their town centre and Folkestone is offering discounts to shoppers today as part of National Market Weeks.
