John and Clare with the latest news, travel, and weather, plus stories from around Kent.

The Medway Maritime hospital is being severely criticised by a leading disability charity following the trusts decision to start charging Blue Badge Holders for parking.

From Monday disabled drivers, who used to get free parking will now have to pay normal fees at the hospital, which start at Β£1.50 for one hour.

Mencap says the change in policy is simply about making money (06:07, 07:07 and 08:07).

Plans to cap the number of homes used as student accommodation in Canterbury have been dropped.

This is despite the city council review finding a link between a high concentration of student digs and problems including poor property maintenance, litter and noise.

The review could not find evidence of public support for a cap on student accommodation, but one residents' group fears the neighbourhood could suffer from the council's decision (06:25, 07:22 and 08:22).

The 30th Deal Festival opens tonight and there is something for all ages and all music lovers.
