Local councils have many competing demands on their money in these times of fiscal uncertainty.

It is interesting therefore to discover that across Kent they have come together to gather Β£24m to lend to first time buyers. It is designed to help more of them gain a foot on the property ladder.

Do you think this is an ingenious idea or do you still despair that you'll ever own your own place? Do you fear for your children? Are you resigning to renting forever? Why is it so important to own your own home?

Also on the programme, should you pay extra to have your garden waste collected?

For the first time, people in Dover will have to pay to have their garden waste collected. From April, residents will be charged an annual fee of Β£40 for the fortnightly service.

It comes as the council becomes the third in Kent to raise its council tax by 3.45%.

So what is going to happen to that waste now? Would you pay extra to have it collected?

Councils in Gravesham, Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Shepway, Swale or Thanet already charge for this service but if you live in Dover, how do you feel about this?

And have you ever had a heart attack? If so, how good was the treatment you received straight afterwards?

The good news is that the number of deaths from heart attacks in Kent and Medway has fallen by more than 70% over the last two decades and one key factor is believed to be the cutting edge surgery patients receive at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

We hear from listeners who have lived to tell the tale.
