Can you afford somewhere decent to live?

Housing charities warn there is a real shortage of cheaper properties and that 18,000 homes in Kent will suddenly be out of reach for low income families.

The Chartered Institute for Housing says that as a result of Government reforms the number of people on housing benefit is expected to outstrip the number of affordable houses in the county by about two to one.

Nearly 19 years after Stephen Lawrence was fatally stabbed while waiting for a bus in Eltham, South London, two men have been found guilty of his murder. David Norris and Gary Dobson, who are now in their thirties, were part of a gang of at least five people that attacked the black teenager. They will will be sentenced later today.

Stephen's murder brought about a landmark case, that exposed institutional racism in the Metropolitan police.
